“I’m not sure if I’ve ever met one,” Tally says. It’s an odd thought. Maybe there are men who are like Gideon and Georgia here, only interested in one gender, but it hardly seems likely. “But it’s not a conscious thing. We subconsciously see beauty in people who could make healthy children even if we don’t actually want to have littlies with them. There’s also the littlie factor itself. Evolutionarily, we want to mate and we want to protect our offspring. That’s why we like big eyes and clear skin, since they make people look young and vulnerable.”
