"Oh, goodness me, I'd never considered!" Susan is abruptly grateful that she'd not had a pet; there's nothing living for Ingrid and Miriam to sort out now that she's most assuredly been disappeared from her London flat for months now - save, perhaps, a plant or two. She wonders, for possibly the first time (and then feels guilty that it's only the first time) how they're getting on without her... and what they must think has become of her.
